The Problem
Road pricing has no common definition of what a professional needs to know.
Without that definition, there is no common training built on it and no independent way to verify what a practitioner knows. There is also no clear career path, so new entrants cannot see where to start or how to advance. As senior practitioners retire, their replacements arrive from other agencies or fields without road pricing background - the contextual knowledge - and there is nothing to measure them against. Organizations compete for the same small group of proven people, and new hires take longer to become effective.
The Solution
Three pillars: the Body of Knowledge, Training, and the RPP™ Credential.
The Body of Knowledge provides that common definition of what a road pricing professional needs to know. Training helps practitioners prepare. The Road Pricing Professional (RPP™) credential independently verifies competence. The credential has three tiers - Foundation, Practitioner and Specialist - which give practitioners a clear career path from entry level to senior expertise. Employers get a reliable way to assess candidates and bring new staff up to speed faster. Practitioners get a credential that stays with them throughout their career.
The Ecosystem
One shared definition for everyone who hires, trains, and develops road pricing professionals.
IRPP publishes the Body of Knowledge so that agencies, employers, universities, and training providers all work from the same definition. Training providers, including IRPP, can align their courses to it. Employers can use it to shape job descriptions and staff development plans. Candidates can prepare however they choose, because training is not required to sit for the exam.
The RPP™ credential provides the independent check. Exams are built from a survey of working practitioners, and the people who teach do not write or grade the exams. Credential holders stay current through continuing education, and the credential stays with them when they change employers.

Help Build the Profession
A small group of organizations will fund IRPP's launch, with a commitment of no more than three years.
Founding Organizations fund the work that brings the RPP™ credential to launch. After the build period, exam and renewal fees are designed to cover IRPP's operating costs, so Founding Organizations are not asked for ongoing support. Each Founding Organization can nominate practitioners to the Subject Matter Expert Technical Advisory Committee (SMETAC). SMETAC members serve in an advisory role, providing input and expertise on the Body of Knowledge, training content, and credential standards.
