Balance
Balance is essential to the SMETAC’s credibility and to the relevance of IRPP standards. Road pricing depends on operational, technical, financial, and policy perspectives; no single sector should define the profession on its own. SMETAC therefore brings together facility operators, solution providers, and consultancies, with expertise spanning Roadside Systems, Back-Office Solutions, Finance & Pricing Models, and Policy & System Design.
SMETAC is an advisory body whose members contribute expertise to IRPP programs, including development of the Body of Knowledge. The BoK is independently validated through a Job Task Analysis of practitioners, while final content approval remains with IRPP. Sponsors neither author the standard nor hold a veto over it.
A Say From The Start
Founding Sponsorship is not a logo placement. A SMETAC seat puts a sponsor's practitioners in the room while the Body of Knowledge is being written rather than after it is fixed, the point at which expertise shapes it most. The definitions of competence that the field works to for years afterward are formed in this period, and Founding Sponsors are the practitioners at the table for it. That contribution is a matter of public record. Founding Sponsors are named permanently on IRPP registries, and the designation does not lapse when the sponsorship term ends.

Founding Organizations span the field rather than one segment of it and include operators, technology providers and consultancies because a Body of Knowledge shaped by a single constituency would inherit that constituency's blind spots.
