Mission & Purpose
IRPP was founded to bring together industry practitioners and capture their hard-won road-pricing experience to build a durable, future-oriented professional workforce development ecosystem. Its mission is to define and elevate the knowledge, judgment, and ethical practice required to design, deliver, and manage road-pricing programs. Its purpose is to create the independent standards, learning pathways, and credentials that allow the profession and the industry's practitioeners to grow with confidence, continuity, and cement the public's trust in the profession.

Bridging the Expertise Gap
The Road Pricing Professional (RPP) credential was born from a fundamental industry need: the lack of a recognized professional standard of knowledge that validates competency in the unique intersection of finance, policy, and technology this domain reflects. After 30 years of conceiving and operating highly sophisticated systems, the domain's complexity is only accelerating, but its workforce development has not. IRPP represents a decisive commitment to the industry’s future by securing the intellectual infrastructure of the road pricing sector through a standardized framework for professional growth.
Areas of Impact
IRPP programs are shaped, informed and advanced by the Subject Matter Expert Technical Advisory Committee (SMETAC), a body of senior practitioners responsible for curating and maintaining the IRPP Body of Knowledge, training curricula and the exam apparatus. The SMETAC's four areas of impact are:
-
Strengthen the Industry via establishing a common language to reduce operational risk
-
Build Public Trust by demonstrating that practitioners meet rigorous requirements
-
Attract Talent through Creating clear career pathways for the next generation
-
Secure Future Policy by preserving the specialized knowledge needed to execute complex projects.
Verified Professional Mastery
IRPP's three-pillar program includes the Road Pricing Practitioner Body of Knowledge, Training and Credentialing. The purpose of the comprehensive approach is to provide candidates and credentialed professionals a complete career life-cycle of domain knowledge verification, maintenance and enhancement. It is not just a credential. It is a lifetime of professional growth and contribution to the field.
